IMDb presented an IMDb “Breakout Star” STARmeter Award to Khauf star Monika Panwar. Panwar recently appeared in the IMDb exclusive segment ‘Burning Questions’ where she spoke about her journey as an actor, receiving a call from Aamir Khan, and her experience of filming Khauf

Monika Panwar reveals mistaking Aamir Khan’s text for a prank, “I replied rudely, thinking it wasn’t him”

Recalling her first day at National School of Drama (NSD), Panwar said, “When I entered the school, it was like entering a different planet. When you enter a new space, it’s all about the energy. As soon as one enters the gate of the National School of Drama, it gives out ‘free will energy’, like a rebel without a cause. You’re here to construct, deconstruct, create, and destroy, that’s the energy of the place.”

On receiving a call from Aamir Khan after her performance in Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega, Panwar said, “When Aamir sir texted me, I initially thought it was a scam. I replied rudely, thinking it wasn’t him. He messaged again and by the intensity of his message, I then felt certain that it was him. I was absolutely free that day but when he asked when I was free to speak, I told him the next day at 2 pm. That was my biggest mistake, because then I was fixating the entire night on what the conversation would be like. You should never do that. If an actor says let’s connect, you should immediately connect. But the next day we had a chat, and it was wonderful.”

Speaking about a difficult day on the sets of Khauf, Panwar revealed, “The climax, which is the 8th episode of the series, was very intense. There were a lot of stunts, especially with a harness. Even the sludge scene, emotionally it wasn’t that difficult but physically, it was bad. I was waiting to get done filming the scene.”

Sharing how she gets back to normal after filming an intense scene, Panwar revealed, “After shooting something intense, I prefer not meeting anyone from the crew. Even while returning to the hotel, I don’t look upwards to avoid saying hi to anyone. I go numb and silent, so I can prepare for the next day. I can’t chat and return the next day. I need to charge myself by going silent.”

Speaking of three dream directors that she’d like to work with, she said, “Aamir sir, I’d like to work with him, collaborate with him, even if not as a director. I’d like to be associated with a film or a show that he is a part of. Then I’d say Lijo Jose Pellissery, he’s one of my favourite directors from India, and Payal Kapadia.”

Mentioning an actor she’d like to work with, she said, “Fahadh Faasil.”

She has previously worked in Jamtara: Sabka Number Ayega, Choona, and Gaanth Chapter One: Jamnaa Paar.

On the occasion of World Yoga Day today, actress Sandeepa Dhar’s words strike a chord with many who turn to yoga not just for physical fitness, but for inner clarity. She said exclusively, “Yoga teaches us what we often forget in life. To be fully present. To feel every breath. To inhale with awareness. To exhale with intent.” These words highlight a core truth — that yoga, at its heart, is about mindful living.

EXCLUSIVE: Sandeepa Dhar on World Yoga Day, “Yoga teaches us what we often forget in life”

In an age where hurried routines and constant notifications dominate daily life, yoga becomes a grounding force. More than a sequence of postures, it is a practice of presence. The emphasis on breath — the most basic yet often overlooked element of life — is central to this philosophy.

Sandeepa added, “When I am immersed in my Yoga routine, every fibre of my being is at peace.” What the actress has said resonates with the experience of countless practitioners. It speaks to the sense of stillness and alignment that yoga can offer, even amidst life’s chaos.

World Yoga Day, observed annually on June 21, serves as a global reminder of the power of this practice — not as a trend, but as a timeless tool for balance. Whether you’re on a mat in a city studio or stretching in your living room, the invitation remains the same: to pause, breathe, and return to yourself.

On the work front, Sandeepa will next be seen in the movie Firrkie. Along with her, it also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Jackie Shroff, Kay Kay Menon and Karan Singh Grover.

Anupam Kher reflects on DDLJ and says, “No, I don’t think it would work today”; describes changing times, and the evolution of romance in cinema : Bollywood News

Veteran actor Anupam Kher has shared a candid reflection on the changing portrayal of romance in cinema, using the iconic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) as a reference point. In a recent interview with India Today, Kher expressed nostalgia for the kind of emotionally resonant storytelling that once defined Bollywood’s golden romantic era.

“I’m longing to see a love story where there’s a certain amount of kashish. That’s why I felt Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was such a beautiful romantic film — Sanjay Leela Bhansali captured that essence so well. It had all of that,” Kher said, expressing his desire to see more heartfelt narratives on screen.

But his most striking insight was on DDLJ, a film he himself was part of, playing the lighthearted and supportive father of Shah Rukh Khan’s character. Directed by Aditya Chopra, DDLJ (1995) redefined modern romance in Indian cinema and remains one of the longest-running films in Indian theatrical history.

Reflecting on its enduring popularity, Kher commented, “No, I don’t think it would [work the same way today]. Today, it works because of its nostalgic value. But if it were made for the first time now, it wouldn’t have had the same impact. Just like Gone with the Wind — if it were made today, it wouldn’t resonate the same way.”

He explained that the societal context in which DDLJ was released played a key role in its success. “Back then, in the late ’90s and earlier, we had stories of couples eloping. But DDLJ was the first time when the hero said, ‘I will convince your father. Only then will we marry.’ That was new. The father tells his son, ‘You failed in London? Good. We’ve all failed in India too.’ These were fresh, grounded characters. Now, things are different.”

Kher went on to say, “Samaaj badal gaya hai (society has changed). Films reflect society. If you make an old-school love story now, maybe only a few people will go watch it. Love, at its core, may remain the same — but the way we express, portray, and understand it changes with every generation,” he concluded.

In an interview with Instant Bollywood Podcast, Kajol expressed admiration for Kriti’s growth over the years, both professionally and personally. Speaking about the transformation she witnessed between Dilwale and Do Patti, she said, “Definitely there is major difference in her… I would say all for better, much more rounded as an actress, much more rounded as a person, obviously doing new things, yes there was huge change in her.”

Do Patti, released last year, marked a turning point in Kriti’s career—not just as an actor but also as a producer. The film was part of Kriti’s 2024 hat-trick run, which included the sci-fi romance Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya where she played a robot named Sifra, the stylish heist comedy The Crew, and the gripping thriller Do Patti, in which she played a double role. All three films showcased Kriti’s versatility and earned her both commercial success and critical acclaim.

As she rides high on one of the most successful years of her career, Kriti’s journey continues with an exciting lineup ahead. Fans are especially looking forward to her reunion with Dhanush in Tere Ishk Mein, which promises to be a powerful romantic intense drama.

With industry peers like Kajol cheering her on and a fanbase that’s growing stronger by the day, Kriti Sanon is clearly entering the most dynamic phase of her cinematic journey.
