Divya Dutta opens up on marriage: “I don’t want to get married, but I would love to have a companion” : Bollywood News

In an industry where personal lives often attract as much attention as professional ones, conversations around marriage remain a recurring theme. However, not every actor follows the conventional path. Divya Dutta is one such name who is redefining the narrative by choosing fulfillment and companionship over traditional expectations.

Divya Dutta opens up on marriage: “I don’t want to get married, but I would love to have a companion”

Speaking to Hindi Rush, Divya Dutta, like Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen, reflected on her decision to remain unmarried. She expressed that rather than seeking validation through marriage, she values meaningful companionship and prioritizes self-respect and emotional well-being.

Sharing her perspective on marriage, Divya Dutta said that while having a good partner makes marriage worthwhile, life can still be fulfilling without it. She emphasized the importance of self-respect and self-love over staying in an unhealthy relationship. “If you find a good partner, it’s great to be married. If not, life moves on beautifully. It’s better to nurture yourself than stay in a dysfunctional marriage. Rather than lowering yourself in a relationship, it’s better to love yourself. There’s a lot of male attention coming my way and I enjoy that, but a relationship should happen when you connect. You feel that the person can hold your hand. If that isn’t there, I have many lovely friends around me, and I am there for myself,” she said.

Divya Dutta went on to say that marriage isn’t something she desires, but she values the idea of companionship. She shared, “I don’t want to get married, but I would love to have a companion with whom I can travel. And if not, then I’m still happy. You know, my best friend sent me a quote — a person asks, ‘Why are you single? You are beautiful, attractive, caring,’ and I say, ‘I think I’m overqualified.’ There comes a time when you look for completeness outside, which is not necessary. It’s not necessary that you’ll only be complete when a good partner enters your life. I used to have that misconception. I used to wear my heart on my sleeve — but not anymore.”

Divya Dutta was last seen in Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar, alongside Vicky Kaushal, Akshaye Khanna, and Rashmika Mandanna. The film, now streaming on Netflix, earned over Rs. 800 crores globally. She will next appear in Nastik with Arjun Rampal, Ihana Dhillon, and Harshaali Malhotra. The release date is yet to be announced.

The fan screening of Raanjhanaa (2013) was held at a multiplex in Mumbai on the occasion of its 12th anniversary by DIY Solutions and was attended by the film’s team – actors Dhanush and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, then-child-actor Naman Jain, director Aanand L Rai, writer Himanshu Sharma and lyricist Irshad Kamil. Sonam Kapoor couldn’t make it and the team kept a picture of her on the seat. The event began with the screening of the film after which stand-up comic Devansh Singh entertained the crowd. Laksh Maheshwari, then, in his trademark style narrated the film’s story and also hosted the talk.

Dhanush began by saying, “Har Har Mahadev!” He continued, “12 years later, you guys are still here to watch this film. My heartfelt thanks to all of you. As he (Laksh Maheshwari) said, this is not our film anymore. So, you guys are here to celebrate your film!”

He added, “None of the scenes were tough for me. I deal with all the scenes in the same way. The toughest part was the dubbing. I dubbed myself. Now, I can at least say a few words, but back then, I did not know the Hindi language. Himanshu and I wanted to kill each other. Himanshu would be there when I was dubbing. He would correct me. I’ll say ‘Baabi’ and he’ll say, ‘Its Bhabhi’. I’ll argue, ‘I said the same thing’! He would remark that its ‘Bha’ and I would pronounce it as ‘Ba’! Hence, it was tougher for him than for me. However, I was very angry with him as I used to dub Tamil films in a day while dubbing for Raanjhanaa took 8-9 days. It kept going and I was getting frustrated.”

The host asked Dhanush if it was difficult for him to adapt to the body language of a North Indian man. The superstar quipped, “That’s not true. I didn’t do anything. Body language means what? All boys are the same!”

He then stated, “I just copied what Himanshu told me. I didn’t understand the pronunciation, which word to stress and also the body language like you said. He would send me voice notes every night. He used to talk so fast that I thought it was better I would prepare without the voice notes (smiles)!”
